Anyone have seborrheic keratosis?

I'm with you - I probably have 100 or more right now, every year some need to be removed because they get irritated, usually by clothing, and bleed, or because they grow rapidly which is an indication of pre-cancer cells based on my numerous biopsies.

My dermatologist has scraped then cauterized some large/thick ones - not my preferred method because it usually leaves a slow-to-fade scar. Most of them she freezes with liquid nitrogen. Some take two treatments to go away.
I have not heard of laser treatment, which I am sure she would suggest if it was a reasonable option.

I was just given ketoconazole shampoo by my derm. When you shampoo you let it sit on your scalp 3-5minutes before rinsing. Don’t know yet if it works but if your solution doesn’t, perhaps ask for this.

It's 10 months later and I've got even more SKs than I had before. It seems like most of the new ones are on my scalp and have a tendency to itch a little. Still struggling with the Grover's Disease as well. Also discovering Basal Cell Carcinomas at various places. Had a Mohs surgery on my shin which got infected and took almost 9 weeks to heal completely. Two more will be removed in August. You have to be tough to get old.

I had some on my neck. I used a cream containing retinol and ferulic at night (Dr. Dennis Gross) and it calmed those specks and they largely go away. Whenever I have gut issues from bad food, they come out again. So I am very careful with quality of the food I eat for each meal.

For scalp, I used diluted Apple Cider Vinegar (Braggs organic version) 1 to 1 with water and pour it onto my hair and scalp. Let is sit for 2-5 mins. Rinse off. They work like wonder.

I have just been diagnosed with so. Over the past 10 months my arms and legs have been attacked by these sk’s. I am totally mortified and scared. I don’t know how to make them stop. I went to four dermatologists with each giving me the same awful diagnosis.. They each said it like it was no big deal and then handed me a brochure with pictures of these ugly warts! How awful. Please can anyone give me advice on how to stop them from appearing . I am so scared,they are everywhere. Any ideas will help!

Seems odd they are so noticeable in just 10 months. Mine have been growing for over 50 years. One big growth I thought was a SK turned out to be a large malignant melanoma back in 1992 so it pays to watch them on a regular basis. My derms have never recommended freezing them off unless they are in a sensitive area that can cause problems when rubbing against clothes, etc. Some people on here seem to have them frozen off more often. I believe they told me the would likely grow back. A couple years ago a Derm cut one out which took forever to heal and there are still remnants. Mine are mostly on my back, chest and scalp. I have a couple on my upper arms. Sorry I can't give you any good news. I spent a lot of time in the sun the summer I turned 17 and, I guess, that's what caused this problem. Good luck.

Sorry, no. Found out today that I also have shingles. Already had Grover's Disease. I've hit the trifecta. Colorful anyway.

Aww I’m sorry to hear that you have shingles. At least they will go away.
Do you have any suggestions on how to cope with sk? The derms make it sound like no biggie. They didn’t have suggestions on how to stop them or fade them. I went to 4 different derms hoping someone could help me find the root cause. Unfortunately, they said no one knows. Then they told me well good news it’s not cancer and these are common lesions and once you’ve had one they are going to keep coming. Great news is right, it’s not cancer. But Common? I don’t know of one person who has these on their skin. And they offer no hope..like I have freckles or something. I’m really not a vain person at all, but these spots are everywhere and they keep coming! It sucks to say the least. I am researching and praying that someone has had some luck with getting rid of these or stopping them. 😪

I have these keratoses, also, and 2 dermatologists have ensured me that the keratoses are benign. I’m 74 yo. They started in my 40’s and have gotten more abundant over time. I’ve had hundreds “frozen” by derm. And yes, they come back. My keratoses itch terribly. I take Xyzol orally and use Sarna lotion topically every night to allow me to sleep through the itching. I’ve learned to live with how unsightly they are.
