Anyone taken Evenity (romosozumab) for Osteoporosis?
Has anyone taken Evenity? I understand it’s only been on the market for a little over a year. I’m hoping it will help with my severe osteoporosis. Any information is helpful.

Hi @mac447
Funny thing, Evenity can be administered every four weeks (28 days). I started Evenity in August 2023 and finished in June 2024 because I stuck to the four week schedule; I wanted to get through the treatment as quickly as possible.
My doc told me the dosing schedule was between 28-35 days; I was traveling and wanted to know what I could do in the event I was gone for more than 30 days.
Bottom line, check with your doc for scheduling.
Happy, happy, joy, joy. Cheers!
If you are expecting Medicare coverage the number of days between shots has to be 30 or 31 days
My injections were covered with an co-pay and I’m on Mighty Medicare. Hmmmm, ‘tis a puzzlement.
Cheers!
I had Medicare coverage for a 5 week interval. @gravity3
I should have said "at least 30 days" according to my doc's billing.
Thanks
Thank you for the encouragement! I begin Evenity in about 2 weeks...At 77, it has been a battle ( 10 yrs +) to do it naturally...increased calcium through foods, vitamin D, weight bearing exercises...(at least I have never broken a bone)...I feel like I have been thrown down on the mat and the count has begun! Here I go!
gmom14,
I recently finished 12 months on Evenity. No side effects and Evenity did what it was supposed to do.
Welcome!
I took Evenity for 11 months and finally stopped because of increasing back pain to the point of keeping me from doing anything. Dexa showed great improvement in my hip and some in my lumbar spine. Started Fosamax after 8 weeks off and after 3 days the intense back pain has returned. Not sure what to do next. I'm worried that Reclast will have the same effect. I don't want the "cure" to be worse than the problem. Any advice?
Try switching to once a week actonel. The dosage is lower and it has a shorter half life than Fosamax so it can clear your system faster.
I stopped Evenity after 9 months because of increasing pain in my hands and wrists. The follow up with Reclast, which I had taken before without any lasting problems, the pain in my right hand/thumb joint intensified and within 6 weeks or so traveled to my left hand. Over a year the pain has decreased and I am able to pinch things and open cans again. I still have discomfort if I overdo but it is no where near what it was.
Because of my reaction to Reclast I did do the change to Actonel and I haven't had any increased pain in my hands that I can say is because of the drug since then. At least for now.
If I recall there was someone else on this forum who went to Fosamax after Evenity had problems and switched to Actonel. If she reads this maybe she will chime in as to her experience.
Good luck
