Heart transplant
Greetings everyone. My name is Tim and thanks to the wonderful transplant team at Mayo Clinic Jacksonville I had a transplant on April 8th 2023. I returned to work in June and have been working out regularly. I met a lot of incredible people while doing rehab. Would love to hear from you all!

Hi Tim Im Dana, just celebrated 6 years post heart transplant at Mayo Clinic Phoenix Arizona. Sounds like you're doing great and yes, I enjoyed Rehab also. Especially seeing my new heart did so well while exercising. The fact that they monitored it while on the treadmill and Bicycle gave me a lot of confidence that I was now so much better than when my old heart and all of its problems.
I just had my 6th year check-up last week and did my second stress test. I was a bit nervous seeing my heart sped up to 133 BPM but after it was a great relief to know it went thru the test with flying colors. The normal course I have figured out is the first few years they do internal Ultrasounds during an angiogram. and now year 5 & 6 were stress tests. I love the fact that Mayo is on top of making sure that we have no issues and if we do, they can be solved quickly.
So you're coming up on year one. How is life so far. feeling a bit more normal?
Blessings from a fellow Heart transplant precipitant
Hi Dana. Congratulations on your 6 successful years. I'm so happy to hear that. You're definitely an inspiration. I have adjusted pretty well and learned the true meaning of doing things in moderation. I pay a lot more attention to the things I consume and try to eat healthier. I'm lifting weights and doing cardio regularly. For a while now I have felt like my heart, mind and body are all on the same page. This journey is about mental health and wellness just as much or maybe even more than it is physically. I'm so happy to hear from you and please stay in touch!
I look forward to sharing in our journeys. Again Welcome
