Obstetrics at Mayo Clinic

Mayo Clinic obstetrical care is led by a team of expert obstetricians highly skilled in complex management. Obstetric consultants have specialty training in providing care for patients with a variety of high risk conditions such as preterm labor, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, preeclampsia, twins, placenta previa and sickle cell anemia. Our physicians are also available to help patients during their birth if complications arise. We have expertise in operative vaginal delivery through the help of forceps and vacuum as well as safe, effective and high quality cesarean birth when needed. Obstetricians are in the hospital at all times to handle situations requiring immediate attention. Read more about obstetric care at Mayo Clinic.

Obstetrician care is available at all Mayo Clinic locations that provide labor and birth services throughout the Midwest. Delivery sites are available in Southeast Minnesota, Southwest Minnesota, Northwest Wisconsin and Southwest Wisconsin in the Mayo Clinic Health System. Mayo Clinic Rochester acts as the flagship site providing the highest risk care for all our obstetrical patients in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Prenatal care is also provided in Rochester for local and destination maternity patients. Within the Rochester practice, obstetricians manage patients on the Complex Care team (Bluebird) and through the Early Pregnancy Clinic (Sparrow) team.
