Mother’s Day Has Special Meaning After Stroke and Heart Surgery

Ashley Zimmerman always wanted to have a family, but after suffering a stroke and getting her mitral valve replaced at 24, a future pregnancy would have it's difficulties.

However, thanks to maternal cardiologist Sabrina Phillips, M.D., who works with women congenital heart disease or other heart disease, Zimmerman was able to have a successful pregnancy and celebrate this past Mother's Day with her 8-month-old son.
