Why does it take so long for Septal Myectomy surgery to be scheduled?
Met with the Surgeon last Wednesday, June 24th. He went over the surgery, told me that the scheduler would call me on Friday or Monday, the 29th. Told me about a video call from him before the surgery as well as a consultation by the anesthesiologist. He told me on the following Thursday that he wanted a clearance letter from my oncologist which he got last Friday afternoon. Spoke with the scheduler yesterday, and he said that they would be calling me today. Not sure why, but it just seems like they’re dragging their feet, which makes me wonder if when they call, they schedule me, that it would a long time out like several weeks. It’s so frustrating to me.

Thank you for the hug. Yes, I was able to lose the fluids with the help of diuretics, even though I supposedly have stage 3 kidney disease, my kidneys worked fine. I’m taking Tylenol 650 mg and muscle relaxers. I made myself brush my and wash my face each morning, even though I mentally didn’t feel like it. What didn’t help was the ac in the room was broken, and set on 85 degrees. Part of the room had air, from ceiling vents, and heat was blowing out of the vents at the window. I have no idea how they couldn’t tell. I kept telling them that I felt like I had a fever. They got it fixed the day that I left, lol. The hip and back pain was not related to HOCM. I’m just hoping the increased oxygenated
blood flow to my lower body is what is helping, and it doesn’t come back. I know for sure losing weight should help this problem too.
The surgery has helped my pain, I’m walking a good bit, eating better, and sleeping better each day. My follow up appointment is August 26th at Emory. I should be starting cardio rehab in 2-3 weeks. I’m finding I’m able to do more each day. It’s really surprising to me.
There is so much with my experience, I could write a book, lol! I do plan to do a journal for this experience. I’ve already started working on my notes starting the day of my surgery. I have pictures too.
I’m thankful for the new life the Lord has given me.
