why do i feel like a let down?

Yeah, I guess I'm a disappointment, doing everything I can
I don't wanna make you disappointed, it's annoying
I just wanna make you feel like everything I ever did
Was never tryna make an issue for you
But I guess the more you thought about everything
You were never even wrong in the first place, right?
Yeah, I'ma just ignore you, walking towards you
With my head down, lookin' at the ground, I'm embarrassed for you
Paranoia, what did I do wrong this time? That's parents for you
Very loyal? Shoulda had my back but you put a knife in it
My hands are full, what else should I carry for you?
I cared for you, but
Feels like we're on the edge right now
I wish that I could say I'm proud
I'm sorry that I let you down
Le-le-let you down
All these voices in my head get loud
I wish that I could shut them out
I'm sorry that I let you down
Le-le-let you down
Yeah, you don't wanna make this work
You just wanna make this worse
Want me to listen to you
But you don't ever hear my words
You don't wanna know my hurt, yet
Let me guess, you want an apology, probably
How can we keep going at a rate like this?
We can't, so I guess I'ma have to leave
Please don't come after me
I just wanna be alone right now, I don't really wanna think at all
Go ahead, just drink it off
Both know you're gonna call tomorrow like nothing's wrong
Ain't that what you always do?
Let you down-NF

@ginnysnow: Hi! Your post really got me thinking about generational judgements. This is an OLD story- generation after generation, most of us get enough maturity and life experience to admit that our “parents” probably raised us with the best information they had available - in most situations. Not that we want to mimic their behaviors in our life, but we get to a place where carrying around the hate or disappointment results in our wasted time and energy. None of us have had the same experiences so each of us will make our own decision on judgement of a parent. I say “Let it go”!

I looked up the lyrics and realize these are from Nathan Feuerstein. You have a heavy weight on your shoulders and hope you are getting yourself help. I deal with deep depression and family history issues, loss, pain, etc. Medication and counseling help you take one day at a time. You need to take care of you and you are valued and matter just being you. You need to know that God loves you❣️ You are not alone in your feelings but know these feelings will pass. We are not responsible for what others think or do. We only have control of ourselves. We will not always get others to understand us and what we are dealing with. But God knows and cares.

Accepting Christ as Lord and Savior of your life will set you free from guilt and shame.

Here is a prayer you can say today:

“Dear God,

I know I’m a sinner, and I ask for your forgiveness. I believe Jesus Christ is Your Son. I believe that He died for my sin and that you raised Him to life. I want to trust Him as my Savior and follow Him as Lord, from this day forward. Guide my life and help me to do your will. I pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.”
