What's outside of your picture window today?

Posted by John, Volunteer Mentor @johnbishop, Nov 25, 2020

As we get ready for the real winter to show up and COVID-19 still playing a major part in our lives I like to spend moments of my day de-stressing about what's going on in the world today. All I have to do is look out the window and observe some of natures beautiful creatures, how they interact and ponder how small it makes my troubles seem. Sometimes I may even get the opportunity to take a photo or two. How about you? Anything going on outside of your window(s) that you want to share?

For those members that have the ability to size your photos before you upload them to the discussion, may I suggest using the following sizes:
– 500 x 335 pixels (landscape)
– 210 x 210 pixels (square)

@jakedduck1 looks good and bad! Good because i want one and bad because i want one!! You should have visited me when we lived in Hershey, PA.

@becsbuddy When my daughter was in college in VA we took the route south through Harrisburg, less traffic than straight down through Delaware. Despite the distance, sometimes we could smell the chocolate. We never got any closer to Hershey than that though.

@loribmt @jakedduck1 What an assortment. The gold bags look particularly interesting, and I do love Butterfingers. What did Leonard do to deserve all of that?

I will not be here on Halloween and wouldn't you know it, for the first year ever I bought my candy early. I gave it all to my daughter when she was visiting. She has no idea how many trick-or-treaters they will get in their neighborhood being it's their first year there. I was just glad to get rid of the temptations - Butterfingers, Kit Kats, Reese's Peanut Butter cups...

“i want one”
JUST ONE?
Like the single chocolate chip cookie, I guess. Such willpower.
Hershey's had a plant 15 miles from me for 43 years but 4 U.S. (1 from Canada) plants moved out of the country. I was a very frequent visitor collecting my candy bar at the end of the tour. I would have gone swimming in the vats of chocolate if I could. Did the Hershey Pennsylvania plant give tours?

Oh I’m not that nice, @contentandwell !!! 😂 All that candy isn’t from me!
This came about from a conversation he and I had months ago and the weather was finally cool enough to ship the promised chocolates. It’s a one-time moment weakness on my part. 😂🤣

@loribmt Well, if you are in the mood to ship chocolates I am partial to dark chocolate - 70% cacao and more. 😉
Since it's healthy and good for your heart I can eat it guiltlessly.

@jakedduck1 you forced me to google to confirm what you said, and you are correct.
“For nearly sixty-two years, Mount Washington, New Hampshire held the world record for the fastest wind gust ever recorded on the surface of the Earth: 231 miles per hour, recorded April 12, 1934 by Mount Washington Observatory staff.” I think I had heard that at one time but i forgot.
I do remember, way back when I was single and working someone presented the challenge of where the lowest recorded temperature had been. It was Snag, Yukon! I just checked and now Snag is still the lowest temp ever recorded in Canada.

Oh my gosh, we finally got some rain this month! I do believe we have had more rain this month than we have had all year long! The wild turkeys nest and rear their young in our pasture area and then fly across the road into our timber when they get older. We have three Standard Poodles that know to leave the turkeys alone, and they do. We don't let anyone hunt turkey on our timber or pasture, so they know this is a safe place. Love seeing them!
