@kawanhee

long term use of lorazepam is not recommended for long term use.

Yah...that's what they say...but I know people who have taken in for many years....and there have been people on here who say they have taken it for many years.....with nothing bad happening to them.....maybe for some people it's not good long term ....but for others it's okay, plus it is HELPING them live a better quality of life ...which in my opinion, is the best reason to take it. I should add.....the people I know who have taken it daily for many years are in their late 60's and are on a very low daily dose. 1mg per day. But it helps then tremendously!

I have been on 12.5 Ambien CR for years. I’m never rested when I wake up, I have crazy dreams (not the good kind) every night to the point I don’t even want to go to sleep bc of them. I’m wondering if Ambien is the cause of the dreams. Anyone else have this?

I have the same issue but without the crazy dreams. I get about 4 hours of solid sleep. My doctor is suggesting that I try Trazadone now.

For the past two nights I have taken 1/2 of a 12.5 Ambien and 1/2 Xanax. No crazy dreams and according to my Fitbit, my sleep score is good. I will continue this for a bit and see what happens. Thx for your info.

Glad you found a solution. How many hours of sleep are you getting?

Usually 7 hours total, probably not quite enough and it’s somewhat sporadic. LOL

Good Luck with the Trazodone...doesn't work for most people unless they are taking something else with it.....tell your doctor that you want him or her to give you the insomnia medications that really work!! Flurazepam or Lorazepam.

Have you tried both? If so, which one do you prefer? I have been on Ambien for so many years that I am afraid to go off it but I really don’t think it is working anymore. Thanks!

Ambien put me to sleep but after 4 hours I would wake up and have to take another....but then it started giving me bad anxiety....and trazodone I've only tried 1 night....didn't seem to work but I'm gonna try it again and see how it works after a week.

For sleep I definitely prefer Flurazepam....works great always! But I have anxiety issues as well, occasionally, and my new doctor will not prescribe Lorazepam and Flurazepam....so I opted for the Lorazepam. Because it helps both issues. I take an over the counter with the Lorazepam, so that helps. And you can break them in half so you can take half at bedtime and half in the middle of the night.....I do that so I sleep longer into the morning.
