Wearing bite guard with BE

Posted by vmorton @vmorton, Jan 4, 2024

I have a problem with grinding my teeth and must wear a night bite guard. My concern is how to clean it to insure I don't get exposed to bacteria. Does anyone else with BE have this problem?

Hello, a month late to add to this thread, however is important to note that toothpaste is unsuitable for the purpose of cleaning a bite guard, being abrasive will damage its surface creating micro scratches that allow for biofilm attachment. My dentist recommends scrubbing it with soapy water and a very soft brush, rinse then soaking in efferdent or another disinfectant, same for toothbrush.

Thank you for this. I have been struggling with whether or not to even
wear my bite guard, though I really need it. I was too afraid of not
getting it clean enough. This really helps.
