Water after 6pm?

Posted by sheila7a @sheila7a, 1 day ago

Hello.
I watched a patient of National Jewish Hospital give a short presentation about MAC.
She said no water after 6 pm
No reason why.
I have started my medicine and take the R&E about 9pm.
2R and 3E.
Just started last week.
Does anyone else take in evening?

Interested in more discussions like this? Go to the MAC & Bronchiectasis Support Group.

I have been going there for 2 years and have never heard no water after 6:00. I do know you can take sips of water for medication, etc. (at anytime if needed) but the professionals don't want you drinking several hours before bedtime (everyone's bedtime could be different) because you could aspirate and we try to avoid that at all cost.

Makes sense.
I think I'm going to move my medicine to different time.
That way less water at night.
Do you take the antibiotics?
How do you schedule them?
Thank you.

@sheila7a That is a usual precaution for people with GERD, whether or not they have Bronchiectasis or MAC. Since I have been tested and none was found, my pulmonologists have told me that restriction doesn't apply.

When I was taking the antibiotics I tried to take mine before 7 PM. After that time I try not to have anything more than a sip of water if needed. The doctor is more concerned with aspiration while you are sleeping.
