Wanting info on Biologics

Hello. I don’t tolerate maintenance inhalers which I’ve tried many. Pulmonologist wants to try me on a biologic but I’m fearful of the side effects. Would anyone want to share their experience with being on a biologic? Thanks!

I am already on a biologic for my rheumatoid arthritis. Is it dangerous to add another biologic for my emphysema?

That's an interesting question, @dianec48, about being on two biologics at once. That would be a great thing to ask your rheumatologist or primary care doctor.

Thank you for your input. I know everyone reacts differently to meds so I just need to get brave enough to try one of the Biologics and hope I don’t have awful side effects. My other option is to stay on low dose prednisone daily and continue to use my albuterol inhaler as needed.

I have not had any side effects since I have been on Tezspire. It has been a complete nonissue for me. Prior to being on Tezspire l was Nucala and l had no significant side effects with it. I just the injector pen for Tezspire. It is so easy to inject. When l first went on Nucala l was driving once a month to my pulmonologist office on the North side of Oklahoma City. About a 40 minute drive I heavy traffic. They started me on the Nucala pen to do myself and again no side effects. I know it keeps me out of the hospital.

I agree that it makes the most sense and is safest to ask your MDs about any treatment issues and combo of treatments. I’m not sure how much research there is on having multiple biologics at the same time, but hopefully they will know or can research the issue. They could even call the manufacturer’s info line about questions.
