Vest for airways clearance
Guys with bronchiectasis,
Do you all use a vest for airways clearance?
My new doctor prescribed one.
Is it a must have or do some of you do airways clearance without it?
Thank you.

@lvnl My "conservative" MN docs do prescribe it for those who need it, and are willing to put up with it. Their avid high intensity exercisers don't normally need it, since our AC occurs naturally. Each of us is different with different lifestyle choices, but our BE and MAC/MAI is our common glue. Throughout this site, there's several people who took up running in order to "avoid the cumbersome vest", but there's also others who exercise while wearing it. Happy that you are getting help with yours! Terri

2 Reactions@terrimn Good job!i found that exercise for me also a good stimulator of airways clearance.
Do you do saline before exercises?
I got the Smart vest two months ago but have been using inconsistently as I’ve been traveling. I don’t notice it helps me bring up more mucus. However, when speaking with their support person she told me that after using for some time, I think 6-8 weeks I might see color of mucus change to darker which means mucus from deep in my lungs is now coming up. It hasn’t happened yet but I’m going to stick with it and see what happens. I do use 7% saline and Aero eclipse and Aerobika with success.
