Vascular surgeon appt: What questions should I ask?
My husband has an appointment with a Vascular Surgeon. We still are waiting for a Neurologist referral. For anyone out there who has a family member with cognitive issues, balance issues and blocked arteries…what questions do I ask, besides providing his medical and memory history? With all the memory issues, and “zombie” incidents, and blocked Carotid(s) I wonder if blood oxygen to his brain is the factor? Are there smarter questions out there that I need to ask?

There is some worry about blockage in carotids. It can decrease blood flow to brain and even break off and cause stroke. So some want to remove clots with surgery. there is also using blood thinners to increase blood flow and help with clot desolving. I choos to use blood thinners for my wife. So far so good. All the experts say there will be another stroke in j2-5 years reguardless of what you do. It has been about 1.5 yrs into this now.
Thank you! At the “”last” ER visit the Dr. prescribed a blood thinner. 2 weeks now, and my husband seems more alert, and his temperament is more even. We realize it’s a long road to hoe, but we have a ray of sunshine!
