Upper Calf Swelling

I have swelling in the tissue of my upper calf. It seems to be progressing down my leg. It hurts when you touch it. Does anyone have an idea as to what this could be? I saw a phy med & rehab md and she tried to drain my knee but nothing came out. I'm getting concerned.
