Hello, I've had 3 concussions in the span of the last two years. One in Jan 2024, one in Jan 2025, and then, before I was fully healed from that one, I got another concussion in Aug 2025. No one warned me that back-to-back concussions take much longer to heal, and I've developed post-concussion syndrome, which has had severe negative effects on my life. But because my concussions were "so long ago," I feel like any time I experience a setback from them, I feel like I'm making an excuse.

2 Reactions@jacque1ine the brain is amazing at how it can heal, let alone the body if you treat it right, welcome to the mayo clinic connect, i am randy and have had numerous head injuries from age 10 i would guess. 59 years ago. if you exercise and eat pretty decent food and don't over tax your brain it can heal with time. believe me when i tell you it takes time. this last one was a tumor in the brain, cancerous. after treatments and testing my tests came clean up to this last week got a cyst of some kind. not going to worry about it or tax the brain. don't need a seizure or anything like it , so i will keep sending prayers to everyone, now you -----------sent and ill send one up for people that really need one, for now have a blessed day.

3 ReactionsMy name is Jan and I fell down my stairs and hit my head on the tile floor 12/21. Had brain bleeding, stitches, 5 broken ribs, fractured clavicle, concussion, collapsed lung. In hospital 14 days but home two weeks ago and progressing. I worry a little because I have some numbness and tightness on the left side of my face but no symptoms with sight or attributable to stroke symptoms but I have a lot of dizziness whenever I get up or down or turn. Everything else is pretty good and I get another head cat scan tomorrow. I would say things aren't that bad and more temporary than permanent (hopefully)! I am so thankful not to be dead or had to have surgery so I cannot complain. I cut back my volunteer work to half time but I find it hard to get motivated to read or watch t.v. I enjoy my work. I am almost 83, retired at 80. Interested to hear more from others to see if where I'm at healthwise is similar. Thanks for any response.

2 Reactions@ridersagainstdrunkdr Welcome to the Mayo clinic connect. its a shame that so many people are unaware, if not by choice or don't care till its a family member or friend. Then you get an earful and i know there are webinars, out there and just like here they have so many people and patients with a history of TBI or results from them. in daily in the email daily digest you can open the platform and find a variety of groups and a thousand voices to turn too, your situation has hit me at home, i am also in a TBI group and some days its very large still would hope on a Harley in a heart beat, will say a prayer for you ---- sent and have a blessed day today, some truly gifted people hear.
