Tried Topiramate and Phentermine for weight loss? Side effects?
I had gastric bypass surgery in 2016.
Over time I regained the weight. Went to a gastric bypass doctor on referral by primary doctor.
He prescribed me Topiramate 50 Mg and Phentermine 15 Mg for weight loss management.
I am on the fence about taking these drugs even though he assured me it’s safe. Topiramate is a drug used to treat epilepsy and Phentermine is used to lessen appetite.
Has anyone in this group tried weight loss pills, if so which ones, were useful, and did you experience side effects.

I’m back to losing again. Now down 63 pounds. I think the suggestions the nutritionist gave were helpful. I cut out some of my morning fat. It was healthy fat, but my body was struggling to process it. I changed my breakfast and it helped. I feel encouraged to continue on my journey! I guess I won’t pursue and meds right now.
Hope things are well with everybody.

3 ReactionsJust wanted to post that I finally hit 60 pound weight loss milestone! I had actually increased my calorie intake. So, this is amazing! I still have about 30 more to go, but I can’t imagine it. When I walk by a mirror out in a lobby in public, it sort of takes me off guard. Is that me? Lol
I simply must return to more strength training, though. I need to get more muscle.

1 ReactionGood luck with your MRI results meeting. Sending positive vibes your way. 🧸
Sounds like you're doing awesome in the inches meltdown. I'm staying alive as the Gibbs brothers beautifully sung.
Yes, I had the MRI and have an appointment this week to discuss results and options for me.
In the meantime, I'm enjoying my weekend plans as you are. Take care, stay safe, and celebrate every single moment of your life and enjoy those who love you that are still in this world and remember fondly those who loved you that are no longer here.
Live, love and laugh 😂

3 ReactionsIt sounds like things are going well for you. Have you had the MRI?
I know I am losing inches. I need to measure all over again. I think I need a new measuring tape. I can’t believe my eyes! My numbers are substantially lower than those I recall. My torso is really smaller. I hope I can locate my earlier figures. I know that I’m now wearing Mediums and some Smalls! I was in 1x or 2X. Still, I have a ways to go to reach my goal.
My arms need more muscle. They look scrawny, imo.
I have a busy weekend scheduled. Hope yours is fun!!!

1 ReactionHey 👋
So glad to see your post!
? Are you losing inches?
I stopped the medication because around the second week of December I was waiting on insurance approval for a Myleogram procedure until I saw what it involved and promptly told the specialist I preferred the MRI.
We also did a holiday roadtrip to Illinois to spend Christmas with our family.
During the holidays I gave myself permission to gain 10 pounds of which I gained 5lbs and loss 4 of those gained pounds to date.
The reason I asked you about inches is because I noticed that I am loosing inches faster than weight.
Therefore I don't rely too heavily upon the scale because the body can hold onto water reflecting in the weight number.
Another thing that is helpful is fasting because it has helped me to reduce inflammation in my body to exercise within my health limits.
I push myself to get in at least 2000 steps a day. A small number for others but a milestone for me. 😁
I also have an appointment with my Baristric Doctor who initially wanted to recommend me to a nutritionist.
I opted to forego seeing a nutrition specialist. I explained to him that I don't have a problem with eating, or what to eat or over eat. My problem is I am not losing weight with the little that I do eat. Than he suggested the medication.
I restarted it this week and I will see how it goes.
Awwww, our little temples we live. Gotta live them.
Please share your nutrition visit experience if you inclined to do so.
Enjoy your weekend!😉

1 ReactionI saw my Endocrinologist this week and I had recently lost another pound, but it’s still slow. She referred me to their nutritionist. She says my calories are too low. I don’t dispute that. And, my carbs are very low too.
