Told I could wait until 5.5.
I had a CT scan in early February. They found an abdominal aortic aneurysm.
5.2. Lucky they found it.
I was told it’s my call until 5.5.
Then one of two surgical procedures.
1. Stints or
2. Abdominal aortic bypass surgery.
Sound correct?

I had my 7.9cm cm AAA repaired with a stent in January this year
They found mine by chance with a routine scan in November 2023
I then had to live with the knowledge that this could burst any day until it was repaired
The wait was difficult but now I’m feeling my normal self
I’m 66 years young
Stress less and get it fixed in the interim you will be ok
I intend to get it repaired.
My question and my surgeon’s question is when.
I don’t smoke, never have. I don’t drink alcohol, never really have.
I’m lean at 6’3” 158 lbs.
70 years old.
Just take it easy
Don’t lift anything heavy and trust your doctor
They don’t know what causes these things other than being a male over 55 and being hereditary
My surgeon told me my AAA
had probably been over 5cm for years before it grew to 7.9cm
I had no symptoms not over weight and fit and healthy
Hopefully you will have the surgery soon
My surgeon recommended endovascular surgery over open surgery so that’s what we did
Less upfront risk ,Quick recovery time and a lot less pain
Only downside routine scans for the rest of my life
Follow your surgeons recommendation
You will be ok !
