Timing of Tymlos Injection-AM vs PM

Posted by marymj7 @marymj7, Sep 25, 2023

I just started Tymlos this week. I really would prefer to inject at night, but read a study on Forteo (the other PTH analog for OP) that showed significantly better results among people who injected in the morning vs. those who injected in the evenings. Does anyone have any relevant experience or insight? I know the company doesn't suggest any particular time of day, only that it be consistent. Thanks!

I've been on Tymlos for almost a year and I've found that taking it in the evening is much better for me. I'm not so fuzzy in the head all day!

I take it in the morning. I started in the evening but my heart is more vulnerable to palpitations then, and also I was waking up with a headache.

I take it around 9 am and hydrate, eat something salty. I also discovered that being active after the shot goes better for me.

Everyone is different!

Thanks-I am hoping that, once I get less fearful of side effects, I can take it around 9am as well and still go for my 4 mile walk. Right now I take it after I eat and exercise-around noon. I get a little rapid heart beat even on a half dose, so hopefully I, too, will do better with being active after the shot.

I take the injection in the evening so as to sleep through the majority of the side effects. Right now the only side effect that carries over to the day is low back pain

I have been on Tymlos for little more than a year. I inject before going to bed so not to experience any cardio side effects. There has been "significant" increase in bone mass density.

Hi! New in the group. Thought I’d chime in.
Started Tymlos about 2 months ago. Started using it at night.
But the heart palpitations and headache did not help with sleep.
Now I take it in the morning. I agree being a little active seems to make the side effects more manageable. Best of luck! So encouraged that people are seeing increases in bone density.

I learned first hand this morning that being active helps! I moved my noon injection to 10:30 this morning and immediately started doing some light household tasks. It wasn't until I sat down that I even noticed I had a bit of a rapid heartbeat, and it went away quickly. I am up to five clicks after having started at 2 clicks just five days ago, so am optimistic I will be at full dose within a week. My lumbar spine is -4, so I am hoping I have a big response to this drug!

I was on Tymlos for 18 months I took self injection at 4:00 in afternoon .It was fine
and it depends on your personal schedule...if you miss your time you can take it later but must be the same day.
My energy level is later in the day, so it worked for me..I started Feb 2021 and not working after Covid.
I had 5 painful spinal cracks in a short period of time and 5 kyphoplasty outpatient surgeries and my back was fragile My neurosurgeon said I NEEDED to take Tymlos to stop the cracks and it did! I started Tymlos with an ARNP after my last surgery who my Neurosurgeon recommended ....I also take Vitamins D3, K2, and B12 per my ARNP I'm in my 70's.. Hope this helps..

I'm so glad the Tymlos helped you-especially with spinal cracks! Did you see a significant increase in bone density?

No I was told by my ARNP that it would not show right away..My. bone density results are not as accurate as they can only take one leg as my other leg I had a broken knee and have a plate and screw..metal..THey took my. arms! Can only have every 2 years..I eat a very good healthy diet, take my vitamins and calcium I get from food and after concuring with my Neurosurgeon I recently signed up for exercise specific back execises with a DPT..I feel Tymlos worked and the concern of Causing Bone Cancer has been removed I was told after extensive studies of no Bone Cancer..The ARNP associated with Tymlos let me know when I was on my last dose! I did not have another choice my Neurosurgeon had seen "other back positive results to convince me..5 cracks was painfull I have never taken any drugs for anything unless it was necessary. I have osteoporousis and right now I am not interested right now in taking another drug for another 18 months and so on and so on. My Decision...right now! Hope this helps!
