Tighness and pressure post robotic lobectomy: Will this pass?

Congratulations on getting through a very major surgery, you’re up and about and even doing some light weights, it’s very normal to feel some discomfort and it’s only been 11 weeks post surgery. Even if your incisions are small, a lot of nerves and muscle have been cut into and naturally it will be sore for some time but be rest assured that improvement is coming soon, you mentioned that when you rest and use heat it feels better, listen to your body and take things slow and easy, the best is yet to come when the discomfort passes, best wishes with your recovery.

Good Morning! I had my LUL segmentectomy, not a full lobectomy, in March of 2023. I still get the nerve pain. More like an ache. Not bad at all, just a reminder of what my body went through I guess. I do easy stretching and am fine. Bras are the thing that seem to aggravate it no matter which kind I wear. The band goes right on top of that nerve. On weekends I don’t wear one and it feels better, but I still work at a school and I don’t go without one at work. I walk 1 1/2 miles almost every night after work and I do all the things I used to before the surgery. I don’t have the pressure any more. It does slowly go away, but if you do too much at first you will set yourself backwards. Take the time to give your body grace. It’s been through a lot. Glad you are doing well! Cindy🙏🙏🥰🙏

Hi. Congrats on a successful surgery. I had RUL removed three years ago. I still have pressure on the right side that I’m convinced will never go away. And my nerves have never regenerated so I’m still numb. Irritating as this may be, it’s a small price to pay for having the cancer caught early enough to be removed. 💙

Twenty three weeks since robotic surgery and yes the tightness does subside, but not completely gone to date. Very minor discomfort.

Thank you for posting this. I will be going through a left upper lobe removal on February 24. This will help me to know what to expect afterwards.

Hi I had right lower lobe removed lobectomy with robotic July last year.. I still have pain around the incision site. All normal I was told I'm on pregablin 400mg.. Works sometimes makes me drowsy tired.. So at 8 months post op having similar as yourself it does get better time wise I was told up to 12 months... I'm cancer free in remission last scan showed no spread so fingers crossed... Glad your doing daily things little steps... Take care and keep smiling...

I had lul lobectomy and lll wedge in February 2024. I still have mild tightness that gets worse with exertion. I'm told it's normal.

I had robotic surgery on Sept. 30 of last year. I was fortunate - my surgeon was able to remove the cancerous part - right upper lobe. All the sampled nodes were negative. I still have a pouch of something under my right breast. It doesn't hurt, but I thought it should have gone away by now. I hesitate to call my surgeon-her work is done. I could call my medical oncologist- I've seen him only once and he did not examine me-just scheduled tests in March. I am in a quandary- my PCP would probably refer me back to the specialist. Hi @flegmonde, It never hurts to make a phone call. If it's something that you wonder about, it's worth the investigation. You may be able to see a nurse in the surgeon's office. Just knowing what this is may put your mind at ease. Alternatively, I'm sure your PCP would want to help too.
