Worried about effects of statin on cardiovascular and cognitive health
Hello. I think I may have posted on a link, apologies.
Ill try again. My hubby has recently been put on statin. This was prescribed after he had a potential mini stroke.. He sees the gp this week to confirm after tests.
He has already been diagnosed with a fatty liver, and has been advised to cult down on his heavy drinking. He's also got high blood pressure and is on medication for this and another recently has been added with the statin. He is also a smoker.
Of late Ive noticed a decline in his cognitive health, with his memory being impacted.. Very concerning.
My question actually is about the affects of statin. Some say its fine, others say its side affects aren't great, plus the statin, although seems to address the cholesterol lowering your numbers, not the plaque that accumulates around the arteries.
Id value some sound medical feedback, thank you, Ginniwin.

I really don’t know about the connection. Over the past 8 years, since my wife required a large stint in her LAD, I’ve researched statins and cardiovascular disease more that I’d like to admit and found tons of data on NNT and NNH. When it comes to the medical/big pharma connection, I’m very skeptical.
