Thanks for 2nd opinion suggestion & Gated Scan

Posted by lulu797 @lulu797, 6 days ago

Good morning! I wanted to thank the group for their support & for suggesting seeking a thoracic surgeon. In the past couple of weeks I have had a Nuc Med Stress test & a Gated CTscan. The Gated Scan showed the aneurysm to be 4.4cm; it was originally said to be 4.6cm so I am feeling relieved.
I have a Telehealth appointment w/ the thoracic surgeon on Tuesday, as well. Glad to have found this group!! Have a great day & weekend ahead!!

It is very relatable to be relieved with a difference of a few millimeters. For me, it also makes a big difference with my anxieties.

I share your relief. My echo measured my TAA as 4.2cm and then next went for an MRI which resulted in a 3.9cm. So relieved!

Welcome to the group. Two months ago I found out I have a 4.6 TAA thoracic aortic aneurysm. I’ve been trying to find out all kinds of information and things to do and I get a new diet situated. How are you coming along?

@okie68 yes I don’t think that that meant that it shrunk. I don’t think that’s possible. But it’s not a big enough difference so I think what happened. Maybe an MRI is a lot different from the other that you had the echo. But I wish you luck I have one myself it’s a 4.6.

@amjoy how did that happen? Can they actually reduce in size on their own? I’ve never heard of that. Did the doctor tell you what happened?

My understanding is that both MRI and CT technology are more sensitive than echo MRI is the gold standard for screening routinely as no radiation like CT. Hope that is helpful
