Hi @awana, I posted a couple of links below that you may find interesing.
The first one is from fellow member @galevin, who shares some really good information about semaglutide and heart disease. Take a look:
https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/i-found-this-information-about-semaglutide/
Here's another line from the National Institute of Health on the topic:
https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC12415761/
And here is something I found online from Drugs.com regarding Jardiance and heart disease:

Is your cardiologist specialized in treating apical HCM?
It is the more rare form of HCM and deserves the attention of a specialist who is familiar in the treatment of apical HCM.

Thank you for this information. Very helpful. And Yes I am seeing a Mayo cardiologist who is aware of my more rare diagnosis.

Yes, I take Jardiance and Verapamil for HOCM. I was diagnosed about a year ago and my COE cardiologist decided to try this combination before Camzyos. I have had zero side effects and terrific year with far less breathlessness. I am fortunate in that I rarely have medication side effects. If anything, this medication combination has made me feel a lot better overall. I am a 74 year old female...

Thanks for this hopeful message. I am just starting to take Jardiance and hope for no side effects as well. I am not taking any other meds in combination as of yet as my Blood pressure has been good and only have the symptom of shortness of breath. I am 77 and enjoy running so hope for improvement of my shortness of breath. Hope all continues to go well for you too.

@awana ,
I am 81 and was diagnosed with Apical HCM when I was 78. At that point I was not put on any meds and had no symptoms except lightheadedness. But, 6 months later, persistent Afib with Rvr presented and it took six months and several medication attempts to get it under control. The antiarrhythmic dofetilde (tikosyn) did the job, but 10 months later I began to have breakthroughs. So, in February of this year my cardiologist at the Mayo Clinic HCM clinic prescribed Jardiance to help lower filling pressures and hopefully help with Afib breakthroughs. It seems to be doing the job and I have only had a few short breakthroughs when I first started Jardiance and none since. I walk 2 to 3 miles a day when weather permits. During the winter I use the dreaded treadmill. This past summer and fall I believe walking up hills was easier and I overall feel better, probably due to reduced filling pressures. I have had no side effects from the Jardiance so am glad I decided to try it. Good luck in your ApHcm journey.

This sounds so encouraging. Bitter cold here today so I’m on the “dreaded treadmill” today too. Took my first jardiance pill yesterday so here we go!!
Thank you and blessings to you too on this cardiomyopathy journey.

Hi - I have been taking Jardiance for about a year in a half and it has done wonders with my HOCM. Shortness of breath has dimenished, not running into the doctors office all the time. Best of all no side effects.
