Struggling with Anal Fissure in My 7-Month-Old – Need Advice

Posted by raffaellatn @raffaellatn, Mar 1 10:33am

Hi everyone,

We’re currently facing the same issue with my 7‑month‑old son. We’ve tried every cream and give him sitz baths twice a day, but nothing seems to help. We’re from Germany, and unfortunately, no doctor so far has been able to resolve it 😩.

We’ve been waiting for 8 weeks for an appointment with a specialist, and in the meantime, he’s still in pain.

Has anyone experienced this with their baby? What treatments or remedies actually helped? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks so much in advance.

Hello @tynlayton1 and welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. I am sorry to hear about the problems with your ten-month-old son. That sounds very difficult. I would like to invite @astaingegerdm to this discussion as she might have some helpful suggestions.

How long has he had this problem? What does his pediatrician suggest?

I’m sorry to hear that your son’s intestines aren’t working well. It is not unusual in infants but it is very frustrating.
How long has he had a problem and does he also have an anal fissure? What does his pediatrician say?
Sometimes the type of feeding makes a difference- nursing or formula fed. Also, if he is on solid foods something in his diet could not agree with him.
Let us know! We are eager to help.
