Stress perfusion test

Posted by ljm2026 @ljm2026, 2 days ago

My perfusion imaging am back as follows:
Small area of mild anterior ischemia. Breast attenuation is also present. Clinical correlation needed.
ECG stress test with perfusion the show normal when excersing. Had a CCTA last October and showed less than 25% blockage.
Any thoughts as to if this could be a false positive due to the breast attenuation comment.
Thank you.

Hi @ljm2026, welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect!

I am not a medically trained person and can give you my thoughts based on my own experience.

Mostly, I think you bring up an excellent question for your cardiologist. The fact that the report specifically mentions breast attenuation does seem relevant, but I’d be hesitant to draw conclusions from the report alone. I think whether you are having symptoms (chest pain, shortness of breath, etc.) or whether this was routine testing would heavily influence how your doctor will view the results.

What is the reason you had stress perfusion imaging? Are you have symptoms?

Thank you. It was a follow up test my gp ordered after an er visit which indicated calcification. My cardiologist looked at that and my previous cta Angio and felt that test was more accurate. I will see what they say after this test. I do not have chest pain, I do have sporadic sharp pain in left breast and it is very tender to the touch. I’m not sure If this would classify as heart pain or not. I’m not short of breath I walked today at a slower pace and didn’t feel anything alarming. At least I don’t think so.

Ahhhh. The process you are going through is stressful and I hope provides answers you are wanting.

I had pain when having a stress test (treadmill). I was told some pain I was experiencing was not heart related because I could push on the spot and reproduce it. It really does sound like your doctor is on top of things and being very thorough.

What initially brought you to the ER? When will discuss your results and what is next with your doctor?

I was having upper abdominal pain I thought it was my heart but it wasn’t. I have to have an egd but his test could mess that up if is abnormal..
Thank you.

I would like to know how you are doing. Will you come back and provide an update after you talk to your cardiologist?
