Are Parkinson's symptoms increased with stress?
I think my symptoms are increased when I feel stressed.
We currently have visitors staying close by and the pressure I feel to think about their needs every day as well as our own seems to be making my symptoms worse.
I've noticed it also when I go for hospital visits.
Do others experience this?

When I am stressed, everything is worse. My meds wear off faster and take longer to work. I am much stiffer. Everything overwhelms me. I get so annoyed that I can't hide my stress like others. It has made me deal with stress so much faster; no more extended fights with my spouse.

Excellent! My husb and I were just talking about stress response.
@crazy4disney
Yes, my memory and ability to think clearly is also affected. I get incredibly tired and have to sleep an extra couple of hours during the day.
@esther589 That's one right there for me as well -- Cognitive issues! When I'm stressed, cognitive issues that I normally struggle with anyway - like memory - just get noticeably worse. Even symptoms such as overactive bladder get worse for me. Ugh!!

Thank you for sharing your experience.
What other symptoms bother you when you are stressed?
I know I have others but I can't always remember everything 🤦🏻

3 ReactionsThat's a big YES from me too. If I so much as have a seriously stressful thought, it overrides my PD meds immediately -- the tremor comes back like I hadn't even taken the cd/ld that day, and other symptoms as well. 🙁

4 ReactionsAbsolutely!! Stress, insufficient rest, and over exertion all bring on that "wall of fatigue" and worsening of basic symptoms associated with gait and balance. I've really had to curtail some entertaining and activities to protect myself as the increase in symptoms also increases my fall risk. 30 min of rest helps after a period of overexertion and planning my activities helps too. Take care of yourself and good luck.
