Are Parkinson's symptoms increased with stress?

Posted by esther589 @esther589, May 25 1:51am

I think my symptoms are increased when I feel stressed.
We currently have visitors staying close by and the pressure I feel to think about their needs every day as well as our own seems to be making my symptoms worse.
I've noticed it also when I go for hospital visits.
Do others experience this?

How disgraceful.
I had a similar letter when I contacted my senator on a different subject. It's just an additional trauma to be cast aside w when you have served your Country.
I'm appalled but not surprised.
I'm so sorry you are begging treated so badly and I have no idea what to suggest.
You have my empathy and respect.

Typically, I get a prescripted form letter thanking me for my letter I sent to a representative or senator. It's not an issue that would help them get reelected!
Cheaper taxes, gas, or food, would get much more traction!
Your reply is appreciated!

My stress level goes off the chart when I'm dealing with insurance companies, the VA Healthcare system, and getting appointments for doctors, especially specialists, by both the insurance company or the VA.

@barryl You're having a rational response to reality. What person in their right mind would NOT experience stress facing all these nightmares. So the good news iss that you've not taken leave of your senses. You know what you're dealing with. I imagine that the recent staff cuts haven't helped any. I have a friend wh says "I don't feel stress - I give stresss to OTHER people. In a siiuation like dealing with the VA, you might contact your elected representative s - your Congressman and your Senators. If you choose to go this route, I don'tknow whether it will have the results you would like - somsetimes it helps. But at least you would get points in the "Give Stress to others" Column which should offer some sort of solace. At least it does to me. And its lots better than taking it out on our loved ones. Just get your tax dollar' s worth by venting to your elected representative.

And yes, I used to struggle with it when I was in the US and I'm sure that many others do as well.

I understand. As of it isn't bad enough dealing with this disease, having to battle to get the care that you need and deserve is humiliating and draining. I hope that you have family and friends around you that will help you to navigate your way through it.

I started the vyalev yesterday so I don’t really notice anything yet. I stopped the Rytary Yesterday at the same time. My sleep still isn’t good. I slept great from 9 to 2am. And despite taking some muscle relaxers I am wide awake . Since 2….
Don’t you hATE it when all your reading about PD discusses how insomnia is affecting your brain….

Thank you for sharing your experience.
What other symptoms bother you when you are stressed?
I know I have others but I can't always remember everything 🤦🏻

We just hope for a little break in the tedium of pd and horrid symptoms..

@meg17
Yeah, it becomes tedious at times, i.e. the cycle of being on during the day and off at night. Sometimes I want to delay taking medicine because I am sick of the cycle. Then I think of things that are worth living for and fight through the stiffness to start the day.

I am sorry to hear you have horrid symptoms, which i assume to be trouble swallowing and the like. I haven't had any experience with those kind of symptoms, but what does help is getting second and third opinions. When I know what is causing the issue and possible medication to address it, and it is not some mysterious serious symptom that will never go away, I find I can handle things better.
