Start Your Day Right

A Mayo Clinic staff writer, Joey Keillor, just posted a conversation on starting your day the right way with a nutritious breakfast. Here is the link to that article, https://connect.mayoclinic.org/page/take-charge-healthy-aging/newsfeed-post/start-your-day-right/

So what is your ideal breakfast?

I love oatmeal with fruit and nuts and seasoned with cinnamon, cardamon and a touch of nutmeg. A cup of coffee also, of course.

Oatmeal with some add-ins is a favorite of mine as well, @jodeej. I also added a spoonful of peanut butter to add a bit more flavor and protein. Peanut butter and half of a sliced banana are my favorite add-ins.

Do any other members want to add their favorite breakfast?

In the summer, I like whole wheat toast with some jam or peanut butter, and a piece of fruit. In the winter my favorite is oatmeal with a sprinkle of cinnamon and fruit or nuts. I also enjoy an egg with a sprinkle of cheese and a piece of whole wheat toast.
I do try to start the day right – except for my lab days which is a local bakery treat day.

@hopeful33250 I like the oatmeal today it was with strawberry,s but prefer banana or blueberries. I also love a (dippy egg) egg overeasy . We in Pa called them dippy egg the waitress knew what I wanted with toast to dip in egg guess that's where the name came from . Just toast with butter and coffee some days also

Some more good breakfast ideas, @lioness and @rosemarya. (I like the dippy egg also, but I've never called it that. It must be a PA colloquialism).

Has anyone tried overnight oats? https://wholefully.com/8-classic-overnight-oats-recipes-you-should-try/

My gastroenterologist recommended them. She was so enthusiastic about it being a great way to start and how yummy, how could I not try it? There's no going back now.
