So scared: Brain tumor on watch and wait has grown

Posted by jkenser @jkenser, Dec 27, 2016

Hello everyone. I have been doing the "watch and wait" approach on a 1cm non-enhancing tumor in my right temporal lobe for the past 2 and a half years. On my MRI last week the tumor enhanced for the first time. I do not know what type of tumor it is because we were just watching it... Now I am headed to Mayo in the morning to meet with a neurosurgeon.. My life has been flipped upside down within a matter of days. Has anyone else had a tumor in their right temporal lobe? I ask for lots of prayers of complete healing for all of us xoxoxox

I had a right temporal lobe mass removed in my 20s.
At the time, I was so relieved to finally have a diagnosis,
and an explanation for the “scrambling” seizures,
that fear didn’t occur to me. Lucky for me!

I’m still epileptic, but medication controls
my seizures, allowing me to drive. Lucky for me!

I hope you can find something to occupy your mind while you wait. New hobby? You got this! Piece of cake!

I was just monitoring a tumor we found by accident in 2015. But then last spring it started to grow. I understand your worries and thoughts about life flipping upside down (I went through those same thoughts). I had a biopsy in July2022 and complete radiation and then started chemo last month My tumor was on the left side frontal lobe in the area that controlled the right hand. I understand everyone’s situation is different, but ultimately the biopsy and radiation went pretty smoothly. The chemo has made me tired and giving me some brain fog. I hope you have supportive friends and family around you because that helps you though this process.
