1 ReactionIt sounds like you are doing pretty good. Not lazy at all. 18 holes of golf, PT, and bridge with friends. Awesome. I get so exhausted trying to go from bedroom to kitchen just to make coffee. I'm good as long as I'm sitting in a reclining position and not moving around. I can't prepare meals anymore, or clean my house. Tasks that previously took a half hour can now take me all day due to resting every couple mins. So I've just decided to do the things that are most important to me and let the rest go. It sounds like you are already doing that so don't give yourself a guilt trip about being lazy. Do what you enjoy as long as you can.
Isn't playing golf a good exercise, especially being outside with people. I think enjoying what you do is crucial to the physical and mental state. Based on the blue zone, all the centenarians just do their daily chores. My mom lived to be 100, just like that too. She was independent until 98, the fall changed everything. With our lung condition, I don't expect to live that long, just the quality of life. Keep moving.

3 Reactions@scoop thank you-- I will look up website
Hi there! I envy your enthusiasm to get out and socialize and be so active!! Keep it up young lady!! I am only 65 and have MAC, Aspergillosis, bronchiecstis, Asthma, COPD, chronic migraines, Acid reflux or GERD. I don’t feel like cooking, cleaning anymore either. I don’t social at all. I do love to FaceTime with my grandkids and daughters out of state! I wonder if you would invite one or two of your card player friends or golfer friends over for a cup of coffee/tea you might get the energy to tidy up the house and make the coffee, and even a cookie or two?!!:). Who know maybe you might even host the card game at your home later down the road! :). These are just my thoughts! Hope you have a wonderful day and have fun with your friends golfing and card playing! 🙂

Are you on Oxygen?
Do you see a pulmonologist? Did you have pulmonary function test? And do you have oxymeter and check your oxygen level? Something is definitely wrong and please call your family doctor, say everything and ask for tests and a referral to a pulmonologist- Insist do not ask although I know how hard it is tomorrow demand things. Please get help
Overall just walking helps us a great deal, as you probably know.
It has snowed here and much cold winters...so I have learned to walk in the house. I walk a mile just about every morning. I also do simple movement exercises which I do while sitting up in bed first thing in the morning. There are simple exercises, as you probably know, that can be done in a chair. Just finding different ways to move the legs while sitting helps. One can also do that with the arms...while in a chair. The key...movement.
I am very fortunate that overall I feel well at 83 and I do know it is hard for others to do...but start small to see what you can do.

Golf is such a great sport for exercise in my opinion. It’s great that you play! 18 holes usually require about 10,000 steps. Do you use the cart or walk? If you walk that’s wonderful. If you use the cart maybe try to leave the cart a little further than the ball so you walk a little more. Are you able to play twice a week? Just a thought. I also lay on my 1/2” yoga mat and slowly put my arms over my head (kind of like making angels in the snow) and stretch and reach over my head and stretch more. It feels so good and gives me more energy. I do this about 10 times. I also get a few great coughs that brings up mucus and cleans my lungs out.
