Share your test results (if you'd like)

Posted by northoftheborder @northoftheborder, May 28, 2024

I thought it might be helpful to have a thread dedicated to sharing routine test results, good or not-so-good. My intention is just to provide a place for sharing, support, and encouragement, not for debating tests and treatments

I'll start. I've been at stage 4b oligometastatic for over 2½ years, and last Friday I did my routine 12-week bloodwork. My PSA remains below 0.01 (undetectable), Orgovyx and Erleada are holding my testosterone at 0.2, and the other tests are in normal ranges, except for those related to iron, which are slightly low.

Overall, it was a banner day! 🎊 I always treat myself to a masala chai at the little Indian café across the street while I'm waiting for my results to pop.

Do you have any recent test results you'd like to share?

@readandlearn Why logarithmic rather than linear? That really exaggerates the rise after the end of ADT.

A logarithmic graph has one great advantage: It shows percentage changes equally. A doubling of PSA values looks the same whether the values are 0.01->0.02 or 100->200. It also allows one to see small changes in tiny values, without the data points all appearing to be the essentially the same (crowded into an indistinguishable group at the bottom of the graph).

Yes, the rise from undetectable to 0.03 appears as a huge jump, & that really does represent a significant change diagnostically. You might not even see that change in a linear graph. In a graph that went from zero to 10, a change from 0.0 to 0.03 would be less than a 1% change vertically.

Many biological processes are essentially exponential, & a logarithmic graph often makes comparisons easier between measurements or even different subjects.

Epic Systems (the maker of MyChart software) already allows users to present their test values in a graph, & I have petitioned them to optionally allow the data to be represented in a logarithmic graph. Meanwhile, I have done it myself in Excel.

Yes, I am a mathematician!

@davederousseau "Where do you go from here?"

My oncologist is waiting for my PSA to rise to 0.20 (technically a BCR), where we will probably do another PET scan.

Best to you and yours as you move forward. We are all at different points on this road, but share common goals.

Oh yes, any time I see successful result for any stage of PC I am delighted and it makes me feel hopeful. It so important to hear that < 3

We are having very important PSA test next month - the one done in a hospital. My husband is dong PSA monthly but it is done in a local lab here which might not be 100% accurate. The next PSA test ( 7 mos. post op) is official and it makes me nervous , to say the least .

I had 25 radiation treatments October to November 2025. First week of December, I had HDR seeds implanted in my prostate and Seminole vesicle. The seeds were removed after a certain time. Last week I had my first PSA test. I had an appointment with my medical oncologist, and he requested I get a PSA test. I didn’t think this was going to happen until March. Results came back. It was less than 0.05. Great news obviously. Especially since I didn’t realize I was getting the test done that day. God is good.

It's game day! (I need to do my bloodwork 2 weeks early this quarter because of my onco's schedule).

Send me good vibes, pray, toast me with your breakfast beer — whatever fits your lifestyle. 🙂

No kidding! And maybe replace the bacon and eggs with truffles and caviar. ❤️
