Seeing things out of the corner of my eye

Posted by Ryman @ryman, May 11, 2017

I don’t know if this is the best group for this. Maybe mental Health or The Brain. Anyway, I see things out of the corner of my eyes. Usually, I think it is my cat but she is sleeping or in another room. It is getting worse and more often. I have an eye apt next week but I have mentioned it to him before. Wondering if this is a physical thing or something with the brain. I have been having a lot of dizziness and head and eye pain.

Hello @ryman. As I recall you had a lumbar puncture recently. Have you received the results of that test yet? Given the dizziness, head and eye pain it might be good to report this to your doctor. Perhaps some other members might be able to contribute to this discussion, but in the meantime, give your doc a call. I hope you get feeling better soon! Teresa

Yes, I had a lumbar last week but all I know so far is that there is no infection. I see the eye dr a week from today and the neurologist a week later. I am working on questions for the neurologist – actually she told me to.

@ryman That is good that you are going to the appointments prepared with a list of questions. Keep a journal of these images that you see out of the corner of your eye and see if they are at a particular time of the day, after a certain type of activity, etc. That might be helpful as well. Teresa

I have had this problem for several years in my right eye only and has gotten progressively worse. Now any unexpected action that comes into my right peripheral vision causing nystagmus and I collapse or fall to the left. A North Dakota internist put me on LDN (low dose naltrexone) several weeks at 4.5 mg recently increased to 9mg. This has improved by not eliminated my problem. I am scheduled for appt with Mayo’s neurology dept in August hoping they can help with balance issues, etc.

I went to my eye dr two weeks ago and he lasered some film off of my implanted lens. He said he would do the other eye in two weeks but when I went back yesterday, he wanted to wait six months. The laser did help a lot but not completely.

I had that for maybe 6 months. It went away by itself.I hope you'll be as lucky as I was.

Could be floaters. I,had that and eventually the brain adjusted and I no longer saw them.

I see smoke trails and the room looks filled with Smoke. No one has checked my vision. I need to set up appointments with hearing and vision. Also preventative care. I’ve been in a dark relapse for 3 years now. So focus has been there. Thanks for sharing. I don’t feel insane anymore.

As a former pharmacist I can tell you some psych meds and anticonvulsants have nystagmus as a side effects. You could ask your pharmacist to check your meds.

I have been seeing bugs and other things out of the corner of my eyes! It’s making me very nervous. I will call my doctor and make an appointment! It has slowly gotten worse! I suffer from mood disorder, depression, and anxiety! I’ve been more clumsy also !
