Article: Scientists find strong brain abnormalities post-COVID

Posted by janet7 @janet7, Dec 3, 2022

If you could read this article on Long-COVID website: “Knowridge”, the brain abnormalities from having COVID are quite serious, and if you had any doubts about getting the shots and boosters, this will change your mind! Also, the scientists are not sure how long the abnormalities will last. One of the abnormalities is Dementia and that is why this article is so interesting and disturbing.

Hi @Freckled1 Here’s the article that @janet7 mentioned in her opening discussion: https://knowridge.com/2022/11/scientists-find-very-strong-brain-abnormalities-post-covid/

I see that you’re new at posting in the forum but that you’ve been a member since 2015! It’s great to have you here! Did you have covid with lingering side effects?

Hi Lori,
Thank you for the link; interesting and rather scary. NoI have not had Covid, but I have CFS and fibromyalgia. I wouldn't be surprised but there could be a similar thing going on for CFS from a prior viral infection like Epstein Barre, which I had as a teen.

Hi Annie, EBV is another of these viruses which can have long term consequences. Covid has awakened some of the latent viral symptoms in a number of people. I’m sorry you’re having CFS and fibromyalgia. There are a number of articles with scientists trying to link CFS to EBV. Here’s one that is an interesting read:

I know that you’ve been in the forum for a while and have probably followed the Chronic Fatigue Syndrome groups and Fibromylagia group…if not I thought I’d pop these links in for you.

Hello again,

Frankly, I don't have great options for managing chronic pain and fatigue at 71. Got these diagnoses in about 1996, along with chronic daily migraine headaches and significant arthritis pain in the hands and right knee. It's mostly distraction, a 24-hour-a-day ice pack for the headaches, percoset, and lying-down rest.
