Reversal of a fundoplication

Posted by Pawsboy9 @pawsboy9, Aug 5, 2012

I had a hernia and the fundoplication done in February as post this my chest is on fire. Going back to see the surgeon who did it on Tuesday. Has anybody had the same experience? If this guy does not have a answer heading for Mayo.

Thanks
Dennis

I had a Nissan surgery November 2022. After the surgery I had really bad nausea all day everyday also stomach cramps and extremely bad diarrhea. After having several test done I finally got the wrap taken down on March 8 2023. If you have a choice do not have this surgery down.

Hi there. I am considering getting it taken down. So regretting getting it. I have massive burning in my throat mouth and very bad taste in my mouth constantly. So many other symptoms too. What was the take down surgery like? How long was the recovery? Could you eat after? Any info would be sooo appreciate. Thx

My nissan surgery was in 2021 and I too have a failed procedure. Just recently I have found that I'm able to eat a little better. NOT like before but at least a little better.

I had a Nissen Fundoplication procedure done last Oct. I have not have success with it at all. The wrap was to tight and I have to have a dilation done almost every two months. I am looking at have a reversal done and wonder if anyone has had this done and if so, did things improve Thank You

For those experiencing a difficult time after this surgery, please watch what you eat. Keep in mind, your food is not being processed as it was before so nothing is there to catch all that fat you eat. I found creamy soups were the worst offenders. It took me two years of gradual weaning back to foods I love. Still, no Jalopenos!

My 20 year old son, who had to have Nissan Fundolplication when he was 11 months old. Then due to age needed another at the age of 18 which was too tight and has since cause numerous health problems. We finally found a surgeon at the Mayo in Jacksonville. My son's did an Augmentation with Linxs device. I would highly recommend you talk with a GI surgeon. As it's magnetic beads rather than the wrap.

I had fundoplication last April. It took awhile, but I'm almost back to normal. Except I don't eat as much, since fundo is like having your stomach stapled. So I lost almost 40 pounds and have kept it off.

Hi Group
I am a 68 year old male. I have been dealing with reflux disease for the last 25 years. I have had 3 fundoplications over the years. This process has not worked for me. I always ended up on PPI's and a hiatal hernia.

Thanks for letting us all know. Like I said before, not many people come on here to tell how successful their surgery was. Mostly, how bad it went.

I assume taking down a Nissen means an operation pretty much like the original Nissen Fundo? I had that operation about five years ago. Lasted for about two years and then my reflux/hiatal hernia problems came back worse than they were before. Didn't know the Nissen could be reversed. Any more information you can give me?
