Looking for research re: taking AI drugs vs not taking them

Posted by celestebradham @celestebradham, Jan 4, 2025

I am currently taking Exemestane. I’m 61. Took a while but I’m doing well on it (doing yoga, pranayama and acupuncture). I now have osteopenia after taking it six months. I’m trying to find research on taking AIs vs not taking. What I’m finding there is not much difference between taking and not taking. But more likely to get arthritis and osteoporosis.
Can anyone post links. .

At the age of 79 I had a 2mm tumor removed. I was HER2 positive. I had chemo for a year and radiation 5 days a week for 6 weeks.
I did not want to take AL's as I had a horrible menopause emotionally . I refused them and now 5 years later I have no signs of cancer according to my oncologist.
My bones seem fine and I am happy, living alone out in the wilds of California.

When I took 2 out of the 3 AI's, my blood pressure continued to rise. I'd had moderately high BP before, but manageable with meds. The AI's kept raising it to the point that it became ultra-high. I now have labile hypertension, a real pain to deal with daily now. I have since found research that anyone with cardiovascular problems should not be put on AI's. the Fulvestrant shots I took next caused vein insufficiency in my legs. I am not a candidate for hormone blockers. Here's one such report : https://ascopubs.org/doi/abs/10.1200/JCO.2020.38.15_suppl.e12549

@jardinera25 but it seems there were no AI adverse effects for women with cardio related problems
