Renal Tubular Acidosis – Type 2 or Proximal
This has been quite the journey. I intially jouned the forum thinking I had MS. They never did figure out what caused my brain lesions. But I kept getting sicker and finally ended up with a doctor that was willi g to go back over all of my blood work and order more tests.
He has concluded I have Proximal Renal Tubular Acidosis. That is why I can’t maintain normal potassium levels. It was also causing heart palpitations, weird blood pressure problems. It looked a lot like panic attacks. So guess what I was told I had for the last almost 2 years? Panic attacks:(
Things got so bad I did end up developing anxiety and depression. But it was a side affect of being completely mistreated by doctors.
Im now 40meq potassium daily. We are working with a nephrologist and he is also monitoring my weekly blood tests until he can see me in April.
