Referral accepted. Confusion about next steps.
My referral was accepted and I have been getting many emails each day with estimate for different specialist. I go into my portal see my appointment but I still don’t know when the list of appointments is going to stop coming, which makes planning very difficult.
I had four different directions in separate emails about submitting records. I don’t know what to do. I am travelling from another country and my first appointment I am supposed to have a review and a plan made.
right now I have no idea how they arrived at the current appointment schedule and cost estimate.when they don’t have any of my records
I’m not getting any help from the international specialist patient service specialist. I have a disability which makes every step very difficult and I’m exhausted and almost ready to give up.
Does anybody have a list of steps to follow after a referral is accepted?

@beekeeperj, that's great that you have been accepted to be seen at Mayo Clinic. I can understand that getting everything in order is stressful, especially when preparing for international travel to get to Mayo and to set up necessary arrangements when working with a disability.
Mayo Clinic is working hard to coordinate your care to see the right specialists for your stay from out of country. I can imagine the flurry of emails and various communications seems to be coming at you from all angles.
To help answer your questions, can you share:
- Which Mayo Clinic location will you be attending?
- How soon will you be coming to Mayo?
- Which department will be seeing you for your primary concern?
- Have you been able to submit your records?

First I need to clarify. Perhaps I misunderstood what I can expect. I called and was told and international specialist wood explain everything to me, how to prepare, how to send records etc. Daily emails And the portal list Appointments and Estimates and requests for information piece meal. I have no thread to put it together. I don't know when the appointments end Estimate are going to stop coming. should I just wait till all emails are done And then start sending records or BEGIN planning. Apologies talk to text Errors. Thank you
@beekeeperj
I agree with @colleenyoung that Mayo is coordinating everything, some based on the information you provided in the appointment request, and some appointments may change once they get medical records and you have your first appointment.
I might be able to answer your question about estimates vs. actually having an appointment scheduled. It is most likely how some processes are automated. Once a provider orders a test, the order goes to a process that creates an estimate. There is probably no human intervention during that process. But the order also would generate the appointment request; that is a different process that requires an appointment coordinator to schedule. At least that is what my experience with the process has been.
I am glad you are staying on top of the portal messages, though at the beginning it might be overwhelming.
@roch I just want to know step-by-step what I am to do now while emails keep coming in and I don’t know how to follow up with request. I I am quite ill, complex, multi specialtydon’t have the energy to keep answering questions.Somebody else posted that they got a list. Thank

I hope you can get connected with an international specialist who can answer your questions.
@colleenyoung thank you, Colleen. I searched your website earlier and found a international local office and called. She explained why the repeat estimate and what I need to do next. I also have Myasthenia Gravis, Recovering from a flare and energy and ability is unpredictable. I need to Plan every activity with rest. If I don’t know what ahead of me it’s difficult because I may have days Of inability to do anything. July 24 I received an email stating a Team member will reach out soon to guide me through the next steps in the appointment process. I did receive a boilerplate email from someone but not the guidance I need. perhaps I misinterpreted, but could not get clarification. And now I will lie down for an hour thank you again for the validation and information.
