Some of the members of the Gratitude Discussion Group were interested in having a place to share recipes and food ideas. I’m hoping that we can use this thread as a place to have that kind of discussion. I’d love to hear your ideas for quick meals, comfort food, healthy snacks, and more.
Personally, I’ve just been through a bad reaction to one of my medications that left me with a very queasy stomach. I would love to hear ideas – or recipes – that might be used when you need to get something on your stomach, but don’t want to overdo it.
Hopefully, this thread will even be a place where we can share recipes for special treats and yummy rewards. It doesn’t always have to be healthy!
I’d love to hear from members who have been part of other discussions AND from new members who have good ideas, recipes and food tips to share. I’m excited to see who might start us off here with an awesome food suggestion!

@gingerw I'm sure you've written this on Connect before, but what does your diet consist of usually? Always interested to talk food. I had some fish the other day, after a while, and I felt the omega 3s shoot up to my brain lol probably major placebo effect there but food is powerful

Soft bones huh, me too. I dont eat much spinach but sneak some down occassionally. I try to control oxalates because of kidney stones. if you eat spinash just have a glass of milk, cheese or yogurt with it. I drink 2 cups of cows milk which I believe is the best source of calcium and best absorbed.
My friend made me some corned beef. I love the flavor of veggies in it. Should have thrown in some brussel sprouts too.
I was taking 6,000 IU of D but am down to 2,000 now. My seizure meds deplete it.
"You were the one that got me checking for moth larva under the chocolate." Considering some of the stuff you eat you might like Almond Moth Larva.I wouldn't be suprised if you served them up on a cracker as an hors d'oeuvres, oh yeah, they like crackers too. A ready made hors d'oeuvres.

@ayeshasharma Because of my kidney disorder and gout issues, I have a laundry list of things not to eat. Half of a California avocado has about 550 mg of potassium [why would I stop at a half?]. My max potassium per day is about 1200 mg. No potatoes, tomatoes, bananas, melons, oranges [except mandarin], shellfish, purines. Careful tracking of potassium, phosphorous, sodium.

@imallers My d.i.l loves it on toast but I just acquire the buttery taste but do like them in smoothies hides that taste with the fruit I put in

Bought a lb of chicken livers on weekend...$2. After soaking in water and drying I froze half and followed a recipe for dry frying them.
You put in pan at med high heat and cook until done....no oil or butter. Then you take 1 tablespoon oil, one teaspoon lemon juice ,s and p and swirl around in the pan. Suppose to add 3 minced raw garlic cloves over them when off the heat but I put them in with the oil and lemon juice. These were the most tender I have ever tasted. While they tasted great the dish is boring by itself so I’ll try to find a recipe to use with the other half pound. There was no liver smell in the kitchen at all.
Calf’s liver is hard to find here but I grew up on that dish along with onion and bacon. Mom used to serve it for breakfast sometimes. I’ll buy the beef liver once in a while...it’s so cheap. I’ve had venison but wouldn’t cook it myself.
Can’t say I eat liver a lot but I’m the one who always grabs the turkey liver at Thanksgiving. And liver is not for everyone so I won’t jump all over @jakedduck1 this time. My kids and husband would never eat it and couldn’t abide the cooking smell.

I’ve eliminated all high oxalates that I know of ....spinach, all berries, almonds beets, any legumes etc. There are other substitutes so not missing anything. Upped my d3 vitamin to 2000 and got a vit D blood test yesterday to see if levels are where they should be.
I ordered a bone and joint supplement and a vitamin d3 plus K2 supplement from Nutramix. Comes is powder form and I get at cost. Already take an anti inflammatory mix. Cheaper than any osteoporosis drug even with insurance. Started my 2.3 mile almost daily walk again . Adding a core class to my 3x week gym class . I’m not letting my bones get in the way of anything.....nope...never....not even my wine or chocolate......nope

@ayeshasharma That sounds delicious but unfortunately soy sauce is pretty high in sodium, even the reduced sodium ones are. I rarely use any. I do have my avocados in salads and on toast though.
What type of feeling is it when "omega 3s shoot up to my brain"? I'll have to pay more attention!
