PRP (platelet rich plasma) injection?

Posted by lgerkin @lgerkin, Mar 3, 2021

Has anyone had PRP injections? I have upper hamstring tendonitis and recently had a prolotherapy injection, which hasn't seemed to help, so I'm looking at other options. I know they're expensive and not covered by insurance but if the success rate is high, it's something I might consider. Thanks!

@hkjp

I was told Medicare will not pay for prp injections. It has been recommended for tears in my right hip.

Yes, that’s right. Medicare doesn’t cover PRP. I hope someday they will.

i had PRP on the back for L4 L5 and it worked great. No pain in 2 weeks. Friends all had operations.

Thanks Win. When did you get the injection and how long did it last, or how long is it expected to last? Joe

so far this one has lasted over a year and still going. Was given the largest dose because i am older. I still wear the knee support that was given when i first started. Stabilizes me and lets me do what i was use to doing when i was younger. My TKR is what hurts me.

So far this injection has lasted over 2 years. It is a high test dose for older people.
