Prolia and Hair Loss
Anyone experience hair loss with Prolia? I would also like to hear about those on Prolia with no issues?

Three years ago, I wasn't on any prescription drugs and felt great. The only thing I would take is the occasional ibuprofen. Since then, I've been on up to three Rx's at a time--each prescribed by a different doctor. There are definitely known negative interactions. All three of the doctors, at some point expressed serious concerns about the other Rx's. I couldn't get any good and consistent medical advice, so I made a decision to stop two of the drugs. Like you, I can't say for certain what caused my hair loss. It may have been the combination. What I do know, is that, once Prolia was in the mix, the hair loss was not to be ignored.

5 ReactionsHi hopefullibrarian, after much reading and thinking and deciding to skip drugs and then to take one I am now awaiting an approval from my insurance for Prolia. Initially my doctor orderedvEvenity but I grew afraid to try it after reading about the Black Box warning. Prolia has a more reassuring long record of use. So I will be having a blood test and then begin Prolia. And hope I won't be looking for wigs. But, better that than fractured spinal bones.

1 ReactionI was on Evenity and had no problems. The Prolia is still in question. Check out the Prolia Support Group on Facebook. It is not a medical site but people from all over the World have had problems.

2 ReactionsI’ve been taking Prolia shots for over 5 years. However, I’ve noticed that my hair is very thin and my part is getting wider and wider. I didn’t realize prolia could be the reason for it. I have to skip injection this year due to tooth being pulled. So I would be able to have bone loss replaced after tooth removed.

3 ReactionsHi hopefulllibrarian, thank you for sharing your experiences. I was wondering about the three Rx's: by that do mean some combination of e.g. Evenity and e.g. Prolia? Or some other types? It would seem unlikely to be on two of the bone building meds at once.
I am sorry to hear Prolia caused your hair loss, or at least that correlation seems to be a strong connection. I will probably stick to my decision to go with Prolia and hope for the best.
Hi princessd, I wish you a healthy and safe dentist experience: do you have to skip injection for a whole year? couldn't you resume treatment right after the extraction? I also hope your hair stops thinning and hope my won't thin, it's thin enough already. Please post how you are doing with your dental work. I shall be thinking of you and hoping for your very best outcome.
Thank you meomurian, that is such good news, as I will probably start Prolia very soon. It's also nice that one can be on Prolia for a long period of time. Evenity had that shortcoming of a year.
Prolia also seems to be used for some other maladies. Interesting.
Yes I am having hair loss! I have been thinking and thinking if I had started any news medicines in the last 18+ months and I remembered Prolia! I have had so much blood work done trying to find out why my hair is thinning so bad on top. Now what to do???
