Problems after chlamydia treatment

Posted by sparky1080 @sparky1080, Jul 24, 2021

I was infected with chlamydia at the end of January this year, and was tested mid-March and finished treatment early April (10 days of doxycycline).

I didn’t really have any symptoms besides some thicker discharge which went away, so I wasn’t really aware that I was infected.

Ever since being treated I’m experiencing weird symptoms, yet my tests are always negative.

I had Weird discharge (thick cervical mucus) and blood on may 7 (after finishing antibiotics at the beginning of April), which was the same day I tested again to ensure the infection was gone, test was negative.

I’ve been experiencing the following symptoms:

1. Lower abdominal pain by uterus /bladder, feels inflamed, sometimes feels like stabbing, urethra pain, also had some lower back pain on the left

2. Pain and itch inside on the left

3. Pain in muscle around pubic bone/groin - hurts when I exercise, sometimes when walking

4. Lack of vaginal discharge, some improvement with gynoflor (at one point it was very dry, small chunks)

I keep getting pelvic exams and ultrasounds and the doctor keep saying everything is fine. I was prescribed gynoflor and fluomizin as she thought maybe it was irritation from yeast after the antibiotics.

I went to another doctor and he did an ultrasound and found fluid in my cul de sac behind Uterus, either from the infection or a ruptured cyst and that it could be causing the pain. He also said my body should absorb it . But this doesn’t explain all of the symptoms.

My Period has been shorter lately (may and June) only 3 days long, usually 4/5.

I’m really worried and getting extremely anxious and crying every day over this. I just want it to go away. If anyone has any advice or has had something similar happen it would be great to hear from you.

Well the stinging for sure isn’t as bad as when i had chlamydia, it still a lingering burn throughout the day. Some days are definitely better than others. In my case after the chlamydia. The antibiotics gave me BV. I went back to the clinic and then told me that those antibiotics gave me a yeast infection. So i went back and they said i had a lingering yeast infection. Went back and told me i was cleared from everything but i still felt burning so i started taking boric acid for 2 weeks. Pain was still present so then i went to an actual gynecologist and she gave me antibiotics again for BV even though i didn’t have that but took them anyways. It’s been a never ending cycle. I have an appointment with another gynecologist next week so get another opinion

me too, I keep having clean tests but never fully come back to normal. is my body just messed up forever?? anyone else? I'm sexually active and my boyfriend feels fine. it's been a year and I've literally been tested 20 times. what else should I do? just feel weird forever? the person that gave it to me feels completely normal. I'm happy I'm not the only woman to feel weird after though

You’re definitely not alone! This has been going on for 4 months now for me. It’s put me in a very dark place. I keep getting all kinds of tests done but they all come back normal. What are your symptoms?

Has anyone managed to figure out of the causes of the symptoms? I also got treated for chlamydia and got retested again and everything comes back negative, but I still have itchiness around my vagina and rectum area. Getting a bit desperate at the moment

OMG I feel the same way too. I really feel like I'm so dirty. Do you feel fine now?

Have you been tested for mycoplasma genitalium? I’ve had the misfortune of catching that as well. It’s not part of the standard panel of tests, but it’s worth getting tested for it too as symptoms of M. Gen are similar to chlamydia.

Has anyone found a way to resolve these symptoms? Anything that could help? I've had mild burning and scanty white discharge since completing treatment 10 months ago. All tests return normal.
