is it safe to play pickleball with aortic aneurysm. I'm 78, and have been recently diagnosed with thoracic aneurysm, 4.1

Hello...
I would say "maybe", since your aneurysm is not extremely large. However, it will also depend on your current blood pressure, how intensely you play, how often, and whether you hold your breath at various points while playing and how often. Many active individuals that have an aneurysm decide to change their workout routines and activities to avoid un-necessarily stressing their body to the point of rapid and sustained increases in blood pressure that are repeated. That applied stress done repeatedly over time can contribute to increases in the size of your aneurysm. Depending on whether your cardiologist has knowledge of, and experience in treating aneurysms, he may say slow down, or may say do it if it's comfortable and we'll check it again in a year. Do your own due diligence to make an educated decision. Best of luck.

At 76 I had open heart surgery at Mayo for such a situation, now it is 10 years later and am still going!! I would definitely speak with an expert regarding this matter and I will say the procedure aftermath was not at all difficult for me.
