Phlegm in my throat and post nasal drip after Covid

Posted by danny2022 @danny2022, Dec 18, 2022

Ever since I had covid in January of 2022 I recovered from the virus but I was left with a constant phlegm in the back of my throat and post nasal drip that will not go away. The feeling of having mucus in the back of my throat actually gets worse when I try to get rid of it by coughing. I have been given steroid inhalers, albuterol, allergy medication, but none of these work. The mucus gets worse especially after I eat. I've never felt like this before and it all started after covid. Can anybody relate to what I am going through?

I,too, experience that same feeling and had my first panic attack because of it. Since then, I’ve had two more. My husband talks me down from it but I feel bad (mentally and of coarse physically) for quite some time afterwards. That closed up feeling is scary. I’m sorry to hear how many suffer with it. It’s just got to get better with time. Thinking of you!

Well, first of all, I’m sorry you’re suffering from post sinus drainage. I would gladly trade places with you, as I also have the sinus drainage, but I also have no taste or smell since December of 2022. I’ve had 2 Stellate Ganglion Blocks and they have only slightly helped, but am going in for a 3rd next month as this no taste or smell thing is a bore! It’s a long shot, but if you could have your Thyroid levels checked, that could be the problem. Ask your doctor to do the blood test to check your Thyroid levels. They should test your TSH, T3-free, T4-free and your thyroid antibodies. Mine were off the charts for hypothyroidism and Hashimoto’s and I never knew it. It’s a simple blood draw test and it will just rule some other things out. Good luck!

Having had nasal “sinus problems” most of my life, even after surgery to correct a deviated septum 60+ years ago, post-COVID (contracted 3/2023) the mucus in my throat after eating anything is stunningly massive and annoying. I rarely eat in restaurants now for lots of reasons. This is one. Trying to politely dispose of so much resulting “gunk” in public …! It, like the rashes (leg, mouth) and lymphedema all began 2-3 weeks Post “+” test.

3 years for me--it drives my wife nuts to have a cough that --might- produce phlegm

It's not from the sinuses. It is an inflammatory response to the virus. The body is still in attack mode and producing mucus to clear out said virus. Some people have been afflicted with tracheal infections due to the darn "glonk" not exiting! Ugh! I hope you feel better soon and wish you love and blessings.

It will be three years this September for my post covid nasal/sinus/congestion. Its horrible. My congestion is so bad i have liquid that comes out from my ear canal.
Tired of having Kleenex at every video or in person meeting…
No help. Only ENT telling me surgery is the only option…and no guarantee of success.

This has changed my life, not for the better.

Can relate to the "tissue issue." I should have bought stock in Kleenex.

Hello, I would like more information on the stem cell treatment. Is it for LC?
I have phlegm constantly, I can not sleep, my vertigo has only gotten worse, and short of breath is really bad. I am so tired. Please share any information on stem cell treatment. Thank you so much.

Sorry to bring some more sobering news but Nasalcrom and Claritin not the long term solution I was hoping for. I think symptoms are worse after eating but I do not think this is from reflux. I'm looking for answers once again. Any thoughts on whether getting covid vaccine who helps or make symptoms worse?
