pacemaker and high blood pressure
HI, My 76 yr old husband just got a pacemaker, Now his is experiencing weird symptoms. We are in contact with his cardiologist but I wonder if any of you have had these issues. During the day, his blood pressure is normal but at about 7pm, it starts going up. By by 11 or 12 it is 200. He is afraid to go to sleep. The cardiologist has doubled his carvediol but the bp is still going up. He is supposed to take clonidine once it's over 160 but it jumps. Last night it was 150 at 10. He went to bed but couldn't sleep. I had him take it at 12 and it was 185. Have any of you experienced these symptoms and if so, what worked for you. Thank you, Joan

My husband is on many meds and therefore we have much shortened sleep times. Especially his blood pressure meds
My prescription for hydralazine is 50 mg, twice per day. (I’m actually only taking once/day , which seems to be working ok for me right now, but probably best to stick with MD’s dosage). We haven’t seen any changes of concern in my routine blood tests.
My son has a pacemaker and his blood pressure is spiking daily, his medication has been changed and increased within the past 2 weeks, but he takes an emergency pill to lower his blood pressure and has to take it daily.
He is a truck driver and it is critical his blood pressure be within the CDL guidelines, but seems no one has answers as to what is causing this blood pressure issues. Hoping for some advice from someone that might have the same issues. He goes back to the heart doctor this week but we are skeptical about whether they have answers, meds have been changed twice within two weeks, but still not correcting the blood pressure spikes.
Any information would be helpful.
I am going through exactly the same thing. Pacemaker, taking clonidine. Blood pressure spikes at night. Occasionally it has happened during day to 220/110. I have recently been diagnosed with APHIB. Had 2 ablations and 2 shock treatments. Only took me out of APHIB for a few days. 83 years old. Otherwise good health however I take a lot of medications.
