P217 TAU results

Posted by dig2dye2 @dig2dye2, Sep 10 6:40pm

My HWD has RBD and MCI. We got a great team that we met with and they ran the p217 TAU test through MAYO labs.

His result was 0.270 Intermediate…

Not sure what that means?

Not sure either. Send a note from her husband's portal to the doctor and ask them to explain. That way you have it in writing in hopefully, terms you can understand.

What is considered a high level of p Tau217?

Typical Assay Reference Ranges
Reference ranges vary depending on the specific laboratory and testing method used. A common two-cutoff approach divides results into three categories:

Negative (Low Level): ≤ 0.18 to 0.20 pg/mL. This suggests Alzheimer's-type amyloid pathology is unlikely.
Indeterminate / Gray Zone: 0.18 to 0.32 pg/mL. This is a borderline result that often requires repeat testing or further clinical evaluation.
Positive (High Level): ≥ 0.32 to 0.33 pg/mL. This indicates that Alzheimer's-type amyloid and tau pathology in the brain is likely.
