No relief in shoulder of Farmer/Big Game Hunter in Manitoba, Canada

Posted by dennyman @dennyman, Apr 1, 2017

MRI results are tendinosis, degenerative tearing and severe acromioclavicular degenerative change Type I with joint effusion no evidence of rotator cuff tear ... no surgery recommended so here is what I have tried.

- One year of Physical Therapy
- A series of 4 cortisone shots
- A try at accupuncture
- Everything the pharmacy (Osteo bi-flex and Omega 3) and athletic store(topical ointments, Heat pacs, freeze gel pacs, Home Tens units) has to offer.

Some temp relief but cannot function normal enough to enjoy a reasonable lifestyle!

Just watched the webinar from Mayo re: PRP(plasma) and MDSC(marrow) and found it very interesting, enough to look further into this new medicine.

But I don't see and hear reference to shoulder issues

Can anybody help with this?

Hello and Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect, @dennyman! Thank you for posting and sharing your history. It sounds like you have exhausted quite a few avenues.
I can understand how frustrated you are. Both my Husband and Father in law have had shoulder issues for years. My Father in law just completed a surgical procedure to repair his shoulder and my husband is in the midst of PT- if he has "over done it" at work he can't even open the door to get in his pickup.
Have you explored getting a second opinion? If so, you can use this link if you decide coming to Mayo is the best fit for you- http://mayocl.in/1mtmR63

I would like to introduce you to @peterauen, who is also here on Connect asking about Regenerative Medicine at Mayo Clinic. Here is a link to more information and they do perform treatments on the shoulder- http://mayocl.in/1JLickH. If you would like to seek consultation at Mayo Clinic, call 612-313-0520 for our Minneapolis location or 507-266-9100 for our Rochester location.

Please keep us updated along the way so others can learn from you.

@peterauen, can you share your experiences with @dennyman looking into the Regenerative Med?
