Anyone experienced a hip disarticulation??

I’m having it tomorrow! The prosthetic gets fitted about 3 months after! This is my goal and I’m looking forward to it! I’ve stayed in shape my whole life and I hope it serves me well! I’ve been practicing with forearm crutches so I’m ready to go! Gonna be a long road!

I had mine on Feb 25th, had issues with healing due to undissolved internal sutures twice. Fortunately or unfortunately, my surgeon left a 6 in tissue stump. I began working with prosthetic company July 1st. We started with an Above the Knee prosthetic which slipped & twisted. We have added a waist belt that fits over the socket and just started walking with cane. Still working out kinks, but they are trying not to have me utilize a saddle prosthetic. However, I would hate to have spent all this time trying to avoid it and actually ending up needing it. I am told we are in the 1% club, so finding others going through the same thing has been easier than I hoped. We live in rural Indiana, but have a home in Florida which is where I have had all my procedures completed. I met another lady from Ohio who had her’s done the first week in December. She had a few set backs from infections, but she is scheduled for September 14th in Chicago. Her prosthetic has been ordered and approved through insurance. The only caveat is she has to stay in Chicago for 3 weeks and do daily visits, but is supposed to walk out of there.
