No “meat” on the bottom of my numb feet.

Posted by texasblooms @texasblooms, 6 days ago

My feet are numb and it gets worse in the late afternoon. This weekend my feet also hurt a lot and I had trouble walking. Last night I realized I don’t have “meat” on the bottom of my feet. 😵‍💫 Walking increases the pain and I’m managing the symptoms by sitting a lot. I wear Uggs boots for cushioning and warmth (and live in hot climate.)
Sending my doctor a message. Any coping ideas?
I understand it’s related to my diagnosis of Sjogren’s and secondary Raynaud’s, neuropathy and dysautonomia.

I have to wear shoes with supports in them all day. If I walk at all without them I get numbness, pain & neuropathy. I get cushioned supports with arch support and metatarsal support and wear them in a shoe that my foot doesn’t move around in that has a some softness but not overly soft footbed. I find Merrells work well for me. It was a bit of trial and error though but it has helped a ton.

Did a foot doctor prescribe the inserts? Do you wear a larger shoe size?

I have a similar situation and my podiatrist told me that your feet have a fat pad on them as a natural cushion; as you age it eventually wears out and it becomes painful to walk. There is no cure, all you can do is put cushions in your shoes.

Hi Texasblooms,
What an awful situation that you have with your feet! That must be so uncomfortable and difficult to live with. The suggestions of supports in your shoes are good ones. I wore those too and they were wonderful but now my big toe nail is starting to come off by itself, painlessly so if I wear the supports it hurts the toe. I will be seeing a podiatrist about this next month.

Have you tried soaking your feet in Epsom Salts? I do that and it helps my sore toe and other problems that I have with my feet. It feels so good! Try soaking your feet in them every night. It is very relaxing and takes the soreness away.

Prayer works too! I'll say a prayer for you.

I heard Epsom salts also have some health benefits. Yay!

Sorry to hear about your toe, this disease has unusual symptoms. I hope you can find a painless solution for both the bottom of your feet and your toe. And empathy from your friends and family.

I’m glad we have a voice on this website, and can connect with others who can relate.

For my Rheumatologist appointment tomorrow I’m writing my list of what’s better, what new, and what’s worse.

When I put my weird symptoms in perspective they’re not going to kill me. I just don’t want any new symptom's or meds.

I have other symptoms that are monitored but they aren’t a nuisance.
