New patient-EDS-what to expect? Ongoing joint problems

Posted by awesomerawson @awesomerawson, Sep 30 12:16pm

I am going to mayo i. November for EDS. Will they address my shoulder and foot problems? Or do I need to make my own orthopedic and podiatrist appointments? I'm in a lot of pain and barely functioning. I just don't know what to do

Welcome to Mayo Connect. If you're new to Mayo, you will find all specialists within one clinic environment helps coordinate care. Normally, the first provider you see can be thought of as your quarterback. They are your main contact, and if they feel you need to see another specialist, they can consult with other providers or request a referral. If you see other providers on the same visit will depend on availability. Normally, those appointments are not scheduled until you see the first provider, who then reviews and discusses with the patient how to proceed.
