Anyone been prescribed Ohtuvayre (new med)? Your experience?

Has anyone been prescribed the new COPD medication by their treatment team....Ohtuvayre? Just wondering if it now active, how it is effecting patients and how well it does/doesn't work

You're correct! However, clinicians have expressed a belief that if Daliresp is added to Ohtuvayre it will enhance the effects of the PDE 4 .....Many are attempting to relieve symptoms in this manner. but will have to question the practitioners a little more in whether or not it has been effective.

I’m still waiting for ohtuvare. Really Discouraged by negative comments. Isn’t there anyone that it helped??
I was on daleresp a few years ago. Had to discontinue after a few months due to severe side effects.

I too am concerned with the information that I have read on the lack of response for those that have COPD. Such big Hype, over nothing. FDA should be ashamed of themselves. No there is no one to trust.

I have been on it Ohtuvayre for about 2 months it does open my airways to help me breathe better for a few hrs & still feeling like a guinea pig testing the Script I noticed recently I have been coughing up more phlegm, but it’s been cooler here in Florida & been walking my dog more….

I'm a little concerned re the hype and such that surrrounded Ohtuvayre as I have not heard many positive remarks and outstanding results that have occurred. The literature doe not address at what point one could experience in breathing easier, when one should expect improvement etc. Did the FDA truly scrutinize this medication before approval I think it was alot of hype.....especially after Dupixent was approved as well with those with copd, however only if they too had type II inflammation.

Prescribed it , used it 6 weeks, crashed. Three days in hospital. Back, more or less normal. Not definite it was O2 etc.

Verona Pharmacy has just placed on the market a new treatment option for patients with COPD. The name of the drug is Ohtuvayre - pronounced O 2 vayre. It focuses on PDE 3 & 4 to help reduce secretions with patients with not only emphysema but with a over-lying bronchitis as well. It is administered via jet nebulizer twice a day.
Just wondered if anyone has started using it and whether they found it to be helpful.

Hello -- I have been using Ohtuvayre since August 12, 24 and have found it to be great. I have doubled my time on the treadmill which to me was amazing. It cut down my shortness of breath considerably and took about 2 months for that to happen. Currently delighted going on month #5

I believe it is nebulized theophilline, an older medicine that was taken orally long ago but is not prescribed much these days. As an oral medicine one has to check blood levels to be sure one didn’t have too much of it and had the right amount for it to be effective. The clinical trials suggested it may be able to reduce frequency & severity of exacerbations. Theophilline taken orally was effective for some patients as well. My docs are going to have me try Dupixent. They may have me try this one in the future.

I don't think it is theophilline unless theophilline is the same as Ensifentrine which is what Ohtuvayre is as far as I know. It is a nebulizer and I have been using it since August 2024 with good results.

I have been on it for two weeks and am very disappointed. No effect at all. Doc says keep trying. I am at the point of barely making it and was really looking forward to it.

It took me 3 weeks to see a big difference with Ohtuvayre. So far pleased with the results

I have been on Ohtuvayre for 5 months, since Aug 12 2024 and can say I am so far very happy with the results. After 3 weeks I found a big drop in SOB, and my time on the treadmill doubled from 1 mile to 2 miles at 2.5 - 2.7. This was a big jump for me and fingers crossed it continues...
